Biography

submitted by the candidate or their team
I was elected to City Council in 2018. I've been an activist/environmentalist fighting for the average person my entire adult life. I am the leader of the award winning band D.O.A. I was born in Burnaby and I love this city. My wife and I and have raised our three kids here.

I was born in Burnaby where my wife Laura and I have raised our three children. Since bring elected, I’ve worked to stop demovictions and introduced Canada’s strongest tenant protection policy. I’ve worked hard to create affordable housing, because housing should be a right, not a privilege. The Burnaby Greens have never taken money from developers.

I’m committed to making Burnaby carbon neutral by 2035. As Chair of Burnaby’s Environment Committee I initiated and oversaw a variety of projects to reduce greenhouse gases and protect our environment.

I’ve helped keep Burnaby’s taxes the lowest in the region and I’m committed to helping our seniors and creating affordable daycare.

As leader of the award-winning band D.O.A., I’ve organized over 300 events benefitting women’s rights, environmental issues, union rights, and have stood against war and racism. I’ve also founded the Harmony for All charity which provides musical instruments to Burnaby’s youth.
