Biography

submitted by the candidate or their team
I was born in Toronto and moved to NB when I was a teenager along with my parents, Murray and Marion Harvie. I went to High School and Community College here in NB.

Presently, I live in Lake Utopia with my husband Tom and two rescue dogs, Charli and Weaver and a cat named MJ.  I have two children, Hillary and Dakin and two stepchildren, Raelene and Mitchell.

I recently retired after 15 years at Fisheries and Oceans in St. George – with the last number of years working as the Aboriginal Coordinator for SWNB.  Prior to that, I worked in Small Craft Harbours and for NB Power at Pt. Lepreau. I presently operate a small business out of my home.

I volunteer in the community helping the Pennfield Lions Club as well as the local St. George and Area Food Bank collecting money and food donations for those in need. Over the past four years, funds raised have been over $100,000 for our annual Hillary’s Hope for Hunger Food Drive. In the past, I was Secretary for Crimestoppers in Charlotte County.

Earlier this year, I was honoured to be a recipient of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal. My most rewarding achievement was helping to bring about legislation change to the Coroner’s Act – “Hillary’s Law” to ensure families get an inquest following the death of a loved one by suicide while in a provincial institution.

My passion is bringing awareness to mental health and addictions and suicide awareness – saving lives through education and training.
