Biography
I am a long-time Green supporter – both federally and provincially. My first experience with the BC Greens came while completing my SFU Public Relations certificate, and doing my internship in the 2013 campaign. I’ve run in the 2019 Federal election for the GPC in Vancouver Kingsway. For the past 4 years served on the BC Vancouver Riding Association. I’m running to realize the benefit of the work of the past four years, positioning for success both in this election and future election cycles.
As in 2019 I’m intensely motivated to bring real action on climate change and mitigation measures. I’m distressed over how the resource extraction economy has denuded and ultimately impoverished ecosystems in BC and embarrassed that our province will now rival Alberta as Canada’s leading producer of GHG from fossil fuel industries.
Equally, I am sensitive to social justice and inequality issues, heightened when I was downsized in my fifties. I went from being a comfortable, middle-class professional and homeowner, to the uncertainty of working in the gig economy, having no benefits,
and experiencing the vagaries of renting, all common experiences of most Vancouverites. The key difference between me and others is that they have no hope of attaining the good fortune that I had; affording higher education, building a career, achieving economic security, and the physical and social wellbeing that goes with it.I believe I’d make a great MLA for Vancouver Renfrew. I’ve lived in the riding for over 10 years – and know the demographics and the issues. My work as a Regulatory Professional has afforded me a thorough background in law and regulation, and how government works (or doesn’t); I’d be able to get things done for my constituents and bring scrutiny to both legislation and government operations, through the lens of Green principles.
