from their website

Bruce Northrup has been a proud resident of Sussex just over 65 years, where he was born and raised. He and his wife, Kim Lewis from Lewis Mountain, have two children: Brad and Jessica. Brad, a Clearance Diver with the Canadian Armed Forces currently stationed in Halifax, NS, is married to Laura Northrup and is a proud father to Bennett and Brooks. Out of all Bruce’s roles, being a grandfather has made him the most proud. Jessica, who followed in her brother’s footsteps, also serves in the military as a Public Affairs Officer posted to Shearwater, NS.

Bruce’s dedication to his community is evident through his extensive volunteer work. He has been involved with the Sussex Rotary, the Children’s Wish Foundation, was a board member for Portage Atlantic and led the Relay for Life events. He was also president of Sussex Minor Hockey as well as coaching minor hockey, ball, and soccer.

Bruce served as a town councillor from 1986 to 1989. From 2006 to 2020, Bruce was the MLA for the Kings East Sussex-Fundy-St. Martins riding, where he held key roles as Minister of Natural Resources and Minister of Public Safety.

Professionally, Bruce has a diverse background. He was a partner in Rory’s Mountain Steakhouse and Pub, co-owned Hutton’s Dry Cleaners from 1996 to 2006, and served as a branch manager for Irving Limited for ten years.

Bruce’s lifelong connection to Sussex and his wide range of experiences highlight his deep commitment to his community.
