Lana Popham knows how incredible it is to call Saanich home and is dedicated to this special place.

A long-term resident of Saanich, Lana knows how important the services we all depend on are for our quality of life. That’s why Lana is part of David Eby’s team, working hard with the BC NDP team to make life better for people.

As an MLA, Lana has been looking out for you in Saanich by bringing more affordable housing, delivering new child care spaces to the region, completing major safety improvements to the Pat Bay Highway, and getting a new urgent primary care centre for the community – which is opening this fall in the North Quadra neighbourhood, so people can get the care they need, closer to home.

Lana has represented Saanich South as the MLA since 2009, and most recently served as the Minister of Agriculture in John Horgan’s government. As minister, she has worked hard to promote local food and support local farmers with an initiative called Feed BC, Grow BC, Buy BC. Thanks in part to her work, BC’s agricultural and food processing sector had its highest revenue ever in 2019 – meaning more money in the pockets of local farmers and entrepreneurs, and more delicious BC products enjoyed by all British Columbians.

Lana’s record of achievement was also recognized by the Times Colonist, which awarded her the Readers’ Choice Hardest Working MLA award for 2019. Before becoming an MLA, she was a farmer and small business entrepreneur, starting the first certified organic vineyard on Vancouver Island.
