Biography

from their website

Amy Fox, the Vancouver-Kensington candidate, immigrated to Canada as a child and grew up in Kelowna, within Secwépemc territory. Raised with a strong appreciation for education and community, he pursued studies in social sciences at Simon Fraser University (SFU) and film production at Langara College. Over the years, Amy has built a diverse career, working as a metalworker, entrepreneur, nonprofit administrator, teacher, gender diversity advocate, and Naval Reservist.

As the founder of Trembling Void Studios, Amy has contributed significantly to Canada’s film industry. His studio has produced 10 feature films, focusing on creating genre content that challenges Hollywood’s dominance while fostering collaboration between unions, government, and creatives. One of his landmark achievements is the creation of “The Switch: Work, Love, Mortal Danger,” the first TV sitcom starring transgender actors, addressing themes like housing and climate crises.

During the pandemic, Amy’s team pioneered a groundbreaking approach to virtual production, drastically reducing the environmental impact of filmmaking. This innovation slashes carbon emissions by over 92%, eliminates overnight shoots, and reduces crew burnout, setting new industry standards for sustainability.

In his 20s, Amy fought corruption within SFU’s student unions, securing funds that led to the construction of the university’s five-story Student Union Building. His commitment to social progress is reflected throughout his career, whether in advocating for gender diversity, improving working conditions in film, or serving as a Naval Reservist responsible for training new recruits.

Amy Fox’s leadership and vision demonstrate his commitment to building a fairer, more sustainable future for all.
