Biography

submitted to Vancouver's elections office by the candidate

I'm a father of 4 and a proud husband. I have been, for over 20 years, a committed and dedicated VSB Trustee. I love Vancouver and especially our Public Education System. I have taught in every elementary school in Vancouver. As well, I worked at TELUS for 34 years. I will continue to advocate strongly for proper education funding.

Reason for running

submitted by the candidate or their team
I believe in a properly funded education system. I have and will continue to advocate strongly to ensure our students are supported. In terms of teachers, resources, programs and facilities.

Although we are co-governors with the Province, the VSB needs to continually lobby and provide financial, social and educational reasons to demand proper funding. I am always excited to stand up for our students.

The Board recently adopted the 5-year EDUCATION PLAN (i.e. in the past it was known as the STRATEGIC PLAN”). Within that plan it is crucial to focus on students and to ensure they have a strong sense of BELONGING in the school system. Recent 300-page survey shows that a % of our population (students, parents, staff and community don’t feel a sense of belonging in the system). 3 GOALS were created and the Board must see this operationalized immediately.
