No Artificial Turf - plastic grass is bad for our health and bad for the environment
While our parks were a lifeline for our communities during lockdowns, the closure of indoor facilities resulted in significant negative impacts. The subsequent proof-of-vaccination requirements for these facilities created unnecessary divisions and suffering in our community; such policies should never again be implemented.
Expanding community gardens would strengthen ties in communities while helping to feed them; including more fruit/nut trees in our 'urban forest' would allow for additional community building events (harvest walks,canning parties).
I work as a teaching assistant for the VSB and serve as a Director for BC Educators for Human Rights. Having been an IPM Technician for the Park Board and a high-rise-window-cleaner, I have a special appreciation for this 'branch' of our city (pun intended) and want it to realize its potential for keeping Vancouver green and its communities healthy.
